The Dancing for Schools initiative
The Dancing for Schools initiative is about enriching children’s
education through dance.
At Dance Dynamic we have been working with children from Hull and East Riding in and out of school for many years teaching a wide range of dance styles.
What we do
Dance Dynamic is a dance company based in Hull. It’s owner, Jill Roberts, is a qualified and experienced dance teacher and fitness instructor who has worked with children and adults of all ages, teaching a wide range of dance styles, from traditional to modern and a variety of fitness activities.
‘Our goal is to bring the physical and emotional benefits of dance to as many children in Hull and East Riding as we can.’
All staff are fully CRB cleared by East Riding of Yorkshire
Council, have worked in many schools across the region and is
experienced in covering for teaching staff during PPA time.
Dance Dynamic has its own studio in Hull but works with schools in their own premises to deliver a range of one-off or ongoing dance classes.
All our classes are designed to cover elements of the National Curriculum, Key Stages One and Two, while developing children’s enjoyment of dance. Professional development training is available for teaching staff.
A comprehensive programme has been developed for primary school teachers, emphasising how dance can be woven into cross-curricular teaching and learning at Foundation and Key Stages One and Two. We give teachers practical skills and approaches to using a wide range dance as part of their teaching, backed up by in-service training and resources.
Classes for Children
We run a schools club link in the form of an after schools club
for those children and young people wanting to study dance beyond
the curriculum and for young people to develop leadership skills in
The link takes the form of a regular dance club which provides an option for dancers to take medal tests recognised by the United Kingdom Alliance or to participate in dance performances.
Classes can cover one or all of a range of dance styles depending on the needs of the school and children.
Enriching Children’s Lives
‘Dancing for Schools’ supports the Healthy Schools programme, by promoting the health and well-being of pupils and staff through a well planned, taught curriculum.
Dance Dynamic supports the Government’s ambition: of reversing the rising tide of obesity and overweight in the population by ensuring that all individuals are able to maintain a healthy weight.
We are also a registered ‘change4 life local partner’, a new government initiative to transform people’s lives by helping families eat well, move more and live longer.
‘Jill is a very experienced, professional and competent dance teacher. She has brought dance to the forefront of our school and has improved the fitness of our children in a fun and exciting way. Classes follow national curriculum and always very popular and fun- an excellent way to encourage active lifestyles and build confidence for our children.’
